Prayer during the day

Our second week of Isolation
An air of stillness across the Nation
We are trying so hard to find jobs to do
And cleaning the house and cupboards out to
The garden looks lovely and the birds are well fed
But the horrible thoughts keep filling my head
So today I’ve decided to not read the news
And think of the good things to shake off the blues
I will count my blessings for all that is mine
My family, my faith a love so divine
My thoughts should be with those on their own
Some with no family to call of their own
The young mums with children stuck in a flat
No Park, No Garden No Fun come to that
So today no more moaning, stop thinking poor me
Start thinking of others a phone call maybe
Or perhaps bake a cake, or take up some knitting
Do some Pilates instead of just sitting?
So yes, Lord I am grateful and not far away
I know you are there just sometimes I stray

Ever present God,
Be with us in our isolation,
Be close to us in our distancing,
Be healing in our sickness,
Be joy in our darkness,
Be wisdom in our confusion,
Be all that is familiar when all is unfamiliar,
That when the doors reopen
We may with the zeal of Pentecost
Inhabit our communities
And speak of your goodness,
To an emerging world,
For Jesus’ sake.

Living God, we thank you that whoever we are, wherever we are, whatever we may be doing, you are with us through Christ, constantly by our side, travelling with us, and looking to lead us forward into new experiences of your love. In the name of Christ, we praise you. Amen.
