Christenings

Christenings, during which your child is baptised, usually take place at a Sunday lunchtime though they can take place during the main Sunday service or on another day of the week by arrangement.

Please contact us as soon as possible to arrange the date and please have several possible dates in mind. To avoid embarrassment please do not make catering or other arrangements before the date of your child's baptism is confirmed!

Sometimes, seeing someone else Christened, deciding to have your own child Christened or being asked to be a godparent, can make you reflect about your own journey of faith. If you were not Christened as a young child, you may be deciding now as an adult or teenager to make this commitment. Whatever led you to this point, a Christening marks the beginning of a journey with God that continues for the rest of our lives.

To arrange a Christening please telephone our parish administrator, Heather Evans, on 01527 577759. Heather works Monday-Wednesday 11am-2pm but messages may be left at other times.

Depending on your choice of church, Heather may invite you to attend 'vestry hour' to make the arrangements or attend a baptism enquirers evening at St John's Church Hall. The next two dates for these are: Tuesday Sept 10th at 7.30pm and Tuesday 12th Nov at 7.30pm.

Once the practical arrangements are confirmed, the minister taking your service will visit you at home, possibly accompanied by a member of the congregation.
