Christ Church, Catshill

Christ Church is at the heart of the growing and lively community of Catshill and has historic links to the poet A.E. Housman, who was baptised there as an infant. The Victorian building, the stonework of which is now in need of considerable renovation, provides an excellent setting for worship.

The Sunday pattern of worship includes a said Communion service (BCP) twice a month, whilst the main service is at 10.00 with a congregation of around forty. This alternates between Common Worship Communion and a family service of the word, usually led by members of the congregation, which reflects the extensive lay ministry of the church.

This includes pastoral visiting, regular contact with local residential homes and taking communion to the housebound, as well as good links with local schools that use the church for special services.

Local ecumenical links are good, and greater co-operation with the Catshill Methodist and Baptist churches is being actively pursued. There is a strong mission minded vision within the church that is always searching for new ways of reaching out and welcoming people as part of a caring and hospitable worshipping community.

St. Luke’s is about a mile from Christ Church. Although built for both worship and community use services are no longer held there.
